As hard as it may be to understand, when it comes to sexual relations between two otherwise strangers, ‘No’ can mean ‘Yes’, as I will now explain and from what someone related to me.

In order to maintain impartiality, I’ve described what happened between a man and a woman from an onlooker’s standpoint, while there is no background as to how the couple met and I’ve changed their names.

The date began quite innocently – Steve and Rachel sat at a right angle to one another in a café one late afternoon. As they drank tea, little was said between them while at some point Rachel stroked her right hand along Steve’s left thigh.

They walked around for a bit; Steve showing Rachel the local sights in central London before catching a train to his apartment.

Inviting her in, he put on some music to listen to as they sat at his dining room table, exactly as they were in the café. They smiled at one another as they made small talk, once again Rachel placing her hand on Steve’s left thigh and stroking it, this time, with a degree of affection for what happened next.

They looked at one another, knowingly. It was the look that lovers exchange. He leaned forward, catching her attention and subsequently her lips. They kissed, passionately. Steve then moved to her chin and slid his fingers in her hair, drawing back her head to kiss her neck, as far down as her part unbuttoned blouse allowed. Eventually undoing the next button, she gasped, “No,” and he immediately stopped.

After some minutes, Rachel once more composed to continue, they kissed again, only, this time, Steve kissed Rachel lower than before. That of her exposed shoulder as he loosened another button of her blouse, exposing the swell of her breast and the basque she wore beneath her blouse.

Again, she gasped, “No,” and again Steve respectfully stopped.

The third time he commenced kissing her, again, starting from Rachel’s lips, Steve touched her exposed breasts. When she said, “No,” again and he subsequently stopped, she uttered, “No doesn’t always mean “No.”

Hearing that, Steve made it clear to Rachel that to him it does.

Therein lies a lesson to everyone, men, in particular. You have it within yourself, just like Steve, to stop when a woman says “No.”

As for Steve and Rachel, that began a heated relationship between the two lovers. One that lasted two years, while the only sexual relations that occurred between them on what was their first date was that of long, prolonged foreplay directed at Rachel and for several hours.
